Bio and Interests:
Dr. Spiros Gardelis is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Microelectronics (IMEL) of NCSR Demokritos, in Geece. He received the B.Sc. degree in Physics from the University of Athens in 1988, the M.Sc. and the PhD from the University of Manchester, England, in 1989 and 1993, respectively. In the years 1993-2000, he worked as a Research Associate at the University of Manchester, University of Warwick and at Cavendish Laboratory (Physics Department) at the University of Cambridge in England. In the years 2000-2004, he worked as researcher at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) in Heraklion, Crete and concurrently taught as a Visiting Associate Professor at the Materials Science Department of the University of Crete. He is with IMEL since 2005. His current research interests are in the field of silicon nanostructures for nanoelectronics, photonics and solar cells. He has expertise in growth, electrical and optical measurements of silicon nanostructures. He has participated and still does in numerous European projects in England and in Greece. He is author of more than 60 publications in refereed international journals and conference proceedings.
